3. Explore - Interaction Prototyping

Let’s put our script and storyboard into action! Set up Peerbots and practice puppeteering your robot.

Plan

Translate your storyboard cells into distinct buttons. Decide which lines the robot says, and prepare buttons for the robot in case a person responds with any of the branching alternatives.

Build

Facilitator Note
  • Ensure learners can connect their control devices to the face devices.
  • Walk learners through creating custom buttons using Bulk Author or Table View.
  • Emphasize that buttons should be ordered and color-coded to make live control easy during a test.

Create your prototyping setup and run a trial:

  1. Connect your controller dashboard to your robot face device.
  2. Load your script using Bulk Author or add buttons in Table View.
  3. Group buttons by conversation segment (e.g. Intro, Story, Questions).
  4. Run a practice interaction where your partner interacts with the robot while you trigger the buttons from behind the scene.
