Course Content

The Introduction to Social Robotics program is a brief introduction to the design and development of social robots. The program covers:

  • Body Design
  • Character Design
  • Interaction Storyboarding
  • Interaction Prototyping
  • Expression Programming

Participants get to build their very own low-tech social robot prototype and demonstrate a social interaction by controlling the robot’s verbal and facial expressions.

Methodology

The course relies on a peer-learning methodology pioneered at Peer 2 Peer University which emphasizes contributions from learners as equals. The program facilitator provides facilitation and organization but the learning comes from the participants’ engagement with the topic and bringing their own unique perspectives.

Evaluation

The curriculum has clear experiential goals and outcomes, and surveys to assess and provide feedback on the engagement both from the facilitator’s perspective and the participants.
