Learning Circles

The Learning Circles methodology is a peer-learning and co-design method that engages participants as equals who can bring their own experiences and knowledge to enrich their learning experience. Learning Circles have been successfully used in libraries across the world.

Each course module follows the Learning Circles methodology which includes the following stages:

  1. Engage: Begin with an engaging interaction that gets participants interested in the module
  2. Explain: Provide some information to explain the contents of the module
  3. Explore: Participants create an artifact exploring what they learned
  4. Examine: Participants reflect on each others’ creations and examine the choices they made
  5. Extend: Participants are left with an open ended activity to extend their learning beyond the module and session

The 5 E’s provide a consistent flow for facilitators and learners to ensure modules are interesting, educational, and relatable, with learning continuing even after the interaction is complete.
